Earn Your Private Pilot Certificate (PPL)

Welcome to your first step toward the freedom of flight. Achieving your Private Pilot Certificate (PPL) is a rewarding journey that requires dedication, comprehensive training, and adherence to the standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

We offer a professional, structured training program utilizing reliable aircraft and flight simulation technology to make your training efficient, safe, and enjoyable.

FAA Requirements for PPL (Airplane Single-Engine Land)

To ensure the highest level of safety and proficiency, the FAA mandates specific eligibility and aeronautical experience requirements, ,primarily outlined in 14 CFR Part61.109.

Minimum Aeronautical Experience

A PPL applicant must log a minimum of 40 hours of flight time. This includes specific instructional and solo time requirements:

Specific Dual Instruction Requirements (Included in the 20 Hours):

  • 3 Hours of cross-country flight training.

  • 3 Hours of night flight training (including one cross-country flight over 100 nautical miles total distance and 10 takeoffs and 10 landings to a full stop).

  • 3 Hours of flight training solely by reference to instruments

  • 3 Hours of practical test preparation within the preceding 2 calendar months of the test.

Specific Solo Requirements (Included in the 10 Hours):

  • 5 Hours of solo cross-country time.

  • One solo cross-country flight of at least 150 total nautical miles, with full-stop landings at three points, and one segment of the flight must be a straight-line distance of more than 50 nautical miles between takeoff and landing locations.

Note on Requirements: While the FAA minimum is 40 hours, the national average for students who complete their PPL is typically 60-75 hours, with some going beyond 75 hours. Training beyond the minimum is common and encouraged to ensure a safe and proficient pilot.

Our Training Aircraft & Pricing Structure

We aim to provide straightforward, transparent pricing. Our rates are based on the Hobbs meter (engine start to engine stop) for aircraft rental and based on the block time for instructor and simulation.

Simulator Credit Towards Your PPL

We utilize an FAA-approved Aviation Training Device (ATD). This allows you to gain proficiency in a risk-free environment while reducing your aircraft time costs.

  • You may log a maximum of 2.5 hours of time in the flight simulator toward the minimum 40 hours of total flight time required for the Private Pilot Certificate.

Estimated Minimum Training Cost

Based Strictly on the FAA minimum requirements (40 hours total time, with 2.5 hours in the simulator and 37.5 hours in the aircraft):

*This estimate represents the cost to meet the FAA’s minimum hourly requirements. Your final cost will depend on your individual learning pace and total hours logged.*
